Mission OKC launched in Feb of 2011. Chad and Anna Clement started the church out of the living room of a low-income apartment complex where they moved their family to intentionally start a church. In the first six months they had already taken sixty children to camp, fed lunches to hundreds of kids in six apartment complexes and begun the process of building relationships with the people in this community.
Shortly after starting the church, another apartment complex offered to build the church a community room on the back of the leasing office. This became the new home for Truth Baptist. From the first year, Mission OKC was bringing in mission teams from as far away as Midland Texas, Houston, Lafayette and many from Oklahoma. These mission teams would serve lunches in the apartment complexes and have Bible clubs with children and their families. In the first four years, they saw over 250 decisions for Christ through camps, Bible clubs and year round outreaches.
This summer, Mission OKC was ministering to children and families in many different low-income apartment complexes and partnered with ten different mission teams from across the country to reach our city.
It is the vision of Mission OKC to serve as a mission’s hub for churches across the region to come to our city to share the Gospel with the lost. Currently Mission OKC is impacting North OKC from Britton to Memorial and West OKC from Meridian to Council on NW 10th. There are people living in pockets of poverty all across OKC that need the Gospel and it is our desire to continue building foundations to pave the way for that to happen.
